- Part 3 of 3 ended up in my sub folder. Looks like good sci-fi manga, but now I have to track down parts 1 & 2 (which I evidently ordered, but sometimes it seems like the store doesn't actually get any until later in the series).

Plus DUGOUT, apparently a reprint or "Available again" of something that came out back in July '08. Still, it's baseball + a prison break. close(-)

- Extra-sized start of "The Gauntlet".

BATMAN STREETS OF GOTHAM #6
- Dini's schedule and digressions have left me confused where this actually is. I thought the initial Zsasz storyline was over (with a wimper), but it looks like it's picking up again.

DARK AVENGERS #11
- Bad guys on an Avengers-style mission.

DARK REIGN LIST AMAZING SPIDER-MAN ONE-SHOT
- Slott's doing this, so something big could happen. It probably won't, but the Punisher one certainly indicates that it could.

MIGHTY AVENGERS #31
- With Gage joining him, Slott has really clicked on this arc.

PLUTO URASAWA X TEZUKA GN VOL 06
- Happy Urasawa Day!

POWERS ENCYCLOPEDIA VOL 01
- The sort of thing Bendis & Oeming will have tremendous fun with.

- I think the end, although there may be one more after it.

FARSCAPE ONGOING #1 - Boom! certainly seems to be waiting for the demand for the hardcover to bottom out before paperbacking these.

G-MAN CAPE CRISIS #4 - Nearly as cute and fun as Tiny Titans.

INCREDIBLE HULK #604 - Lead up to the big event.

IRREDEEMABLE #8 - First book was pretty darn good.

NOMAD GIRL WITHOUT A WORLD #3 - We'll see. Captain America stuff has been good, but this isn't actual Brubaker.

SPIDER-MAN 1602 #2 - I've actually enjoyed most of these.

VICTORIAN UNDEAD #1 - Sherlock Holmes vs. Zombies, by Ian Edgington? Sold!

VIKING #4 - Golden-age size pages and still only $3? Cool.

MIGHTY AVENGERS TP EARTHS MIGHTIEST
NEW AVENGERS TP VOL 11 SEARCH FOR SORCERER SUPREME - Bendis's Ellis-Thunderbolts fanfic is actually a lot of fun, as is his Hood story; Slott's attempt at bringing old-school Avengers style back is a bit wobbly at first.

24 OMNIBUS TP VOL 01 - Most of these worked well enough; Beau Smith's is the best.

WASTELAND TP VOL 05 TALES O/T UNINVITED - Wasteland is probably pretty awesome in big chunks. The Omnibus, with the text pieces and stuff included, is probably even better. close(-)

No, yes, no, no. Plus The Escapists from last week came in, as did DOCTOR WHO: THE WIDOW'S CURSE, the second chunk of comics featuring the 10th Doctor from Doctor Who Magazine. Big, solid, expensive slab of Britcomics there; don't see it on Diamond's list anywhere.

... and which I seem to have received instead of Doctor Who Classics. Weird. close(-)

I remember watching some of the features on the Blade II dvd where Del Toro talked about wanting to return to the point where vampires are ugly, soulless, bloodthirsty fiends who are purely parasitical in nature and only live to drain you dry. Now that's the kind of creature we should be shooting for. Not glamorising them to the point of absurdity.

Buffy had a pretty good take at times too. Whedon made the distinction that they're soulless creatures who are genuinely evil and not at all trustworthy. Hell, it's not even the original person anymore, it's a demon having setup shop in their meat suit.

And then Buffy completely sold that out when fans started swooning over Spike.

Yeah, I absolutely would rather vampires tend toward the Orlockian model than the pretty boys, but I figure that ship sailed long ago.

I don't hate it, or at least I won't until a couple weeks from now when New Moon is taking up a dozen movie theater screens that could be showing something that holds even the slightest interest to me, although there does seem to be enough of what Sevedris mentioned to put me off of it. What bothers me the most is what it's a symptom of - things like Twilight, Harry Potter, etc., just explode into these massive franchises that crowd everything else out. I may be hypocritical about this - I certainly didn't mind so much when it was Star Wars, for instance, although I burned out on that somewhat. There is something about the sort of really specific fanaticism that creeps me out, though. close(-)

Got 2000AD #1661 in the mail on Saturday (US packets have only gotten to #1655). Don't recall subscribing, and that'd be an oddly specific thing for someone to get me as a gift without telling me about it - sure, everyone knows I like comics, but 2000AD is a bit esoteric. Just that single prog would be even weirder.

- I love Peanuts, so I might have ordered this even at $75.

SKY DOLL DOLL FACTORY #1 - A two-parter. Wonder how Marvel will collect that.

- Pretty decent, but not enough for me to start picking up Uncanny.

ELECTROPOLIS TP - Read the Image incarnation, liked it a lot. Must get Mister X.

JUDGE DREDD MECHANISMO TP - If this is the story about the cyborg soldier that ran in 2000AD last year, it was pretty darn good.

SUPERGIRL WHO IS SUPERWOMAN TP - Not bad at all.

SUPERMAN RED SON DELUXE EDITION HC - Superman seems to be the only thing that makes Mark Millar cheer up a bit (and then, just a little).

TANK GIRL SKIDMARKS #1 - Pretty enjoyable in the Meg; supposedly this is more uncensored or something. close(-)
